Winter Cycling

A lot of people in Boston talk about how to survive a Boston winter on a bike. I’m finding the Boston winters quite boring. The biggest danger is some driver hitting you because they think their SUV can handle anything despite their complete lack of driving skills. However, nothing is more tranquil then taking my road bike out on some nice, packed dirt roads with snow on them. There aren’t too many near my parent’s house, but they are absolutely incredibly to ride on, especially in the winter. Over Christmas break, the few days off from my graduate research that I had, I got to enjoy riding in snow fall on such roads. With the right clothing, I can’t imagine better riding conditions - you do mostly lose your brakes as you can see in the second photo, though. I need to do it more because too many kind NH drivers stopped to ask if I needed assistance. And I need to do it more because it’s just awesome. I’ll try to post more photos sometime. It’s really hard to stop and take pictures when you just want to push on to the next climb.
